I grew up in a parsonage. From the earliest days of my life I was in church every week. It isn't surprising I guess that I ended up being a pastor like my father and grandfather before me. Beginning my first assignment fresh out of Bible school, I imagined I was prepared and ready to go. It didn't take long, however, to realize how unprepared I was for the storms and stresses of ministry life. It's a long story, but after three years I crashed on the rocks of reality. I thought I would never shepherd a church again. But God had other plans.
My name is Jim Rose. I'm an ordained minister, licensed professional counselor and veteran mentor. This combination has given me a unique perspective on the storms of ministry life. Speaking of "ministry storms", you probably noticed the Rembrandt image above--one of his most famous paintings called The Storm on the Sea of Galilee. It depicts the familiar biblical story of a fierce storm, with all the fear and danger Jesus' disciples could imagine. Of course, if you know the story, you know that Jesus was in the boat and that changed the outcome of the storm. I love to use that picture to encourage hope and assurance for ministers in their own ministry storm. After thirty years of research, study and practice, I have developed a five step strategy for finding peace. All the resources and services reflect what I believe God's plan. I am committed to grounding all these resources in an orthodox, evangelical understanding of Christian beliefs, yet one that is conversant and appreciative of what current science can teach about the human condition.
